CANON VAN NEDERLAND

The Netherlands Open Air Museum has offered an indoor museum with an exhibition on the Canon of the Netherlands since 2017. Spectacular "film sets" that flow into each other tell stories from the Canon divided into 10 consecutive time periods. You stand face to face with historical characters from each time period. You get to know them and their world through games, animations and films. And, of course, through their objects as the surviving evidence for their stories. The origins of the Netherlands, its population, climate and geography are covered in the film room. And in the final room, you can query the complete Canon on an 18-meter-wide touch screen.

The Netherlands Open Air Museum has received the silver European Design award for its 'Canon of the Netherlands' presentation, which has been open to the public since September 2017. A special award for the museum in Arnhem. The 'Canon of the Netherlands' received the award because of its unusual and original design through which the visitor literally steps into and experiences the history of the Netherlands. It is the second international award given to the 'Canon of the Netherlands'. Recently, the museum received the international award at the Museums + Heritage awards in London. This award is a prestigious prize within the international cultural sector.
