YOUNG PERSPECTIVES

How do you promote child-friendly justice? This issue has been discussed for years.

Young Perspectives (YOPE) facilitates meetings where professionals and young people discuss experiences in the judicial process. How does a young person in detention experience a court case? And how does a professional connect? To then work together, the key word in this case, towards the best solution?

YOPE is working hard to improve understanding and contact between young people and professionals in the judicial process, and they do so through trainings, workshops and other creative methods, among other things. For YOPE's EU project the Sessions Day, we were allowed to assist them in their mission over the past months by making two videos.

One specifically aimed at young people who have to appear in court for the first time. What can they expect and who are all those faces in the black dresses? And a video for the pros for training purposes. Which gives a glimpse into how a 'dead normal' working day for them, is experienced through the eyes of a young person walking through the courtroom doors for the first time.

YOPE is making an effort to get a QR to the video on the summons so that every young person can appear well prepared for his/her case. These videos are the result of a collaboration between European Union, Public Prosecution Service, Koepelgevangenis Arnhem, Ministry of Justice and Security, Child Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN).
